The Christmas Edit
For the woman who has kept everyone else's things safe for years.
The best Christmas jewellery gifts for mum are pieces that carry her family with her: her children's initials on a bracelet, their birthstones on a fine chain, or a name in gold she can wear every day. Choose solid gold so it lasts as long as the meaning does, and match the colour of the rings she already wears.
That is the short answer. Below is how to choose between initials, birthstones, names and engraving, what each costs in real 14K and 18K gold, how to get the size right without asking her, and when to order so a made-to-order piece is ready for Christmas morning.

See the pieceFour ways to carry the family
Most mums already carry their family in a phone case or a purse. A piece of jewellery does it more quietly, and it goes everywhere she does. There are four ways to build that meaning into gold, and each suits a slightly different person.
| The idea | Best for | A piece to start with |
|---|---|---|
| Initials | A mum who likes things understated. One letter per child, legible only to those who know. | Pavé Initial Bracelet, from £144 in 14K |
| Birthstones | A mum who loves colour. A small natural stone for each child, in birth order. | Family Birthstone Bracelet, from £265 in 18K |
| A name | A single child's name, a grandchild's, or the name only her children call her. | North Star Name Necklace, from £170 in 14K or 18K |
| Engraving | A date that matters: a birth, a wedding, the year the family was complete. | Engravable Padlock Bracelet, from £266 in 14K |
If you cannot decide, initials are the safest choice. They work for one child or five, they suit every age, and they add up over the years: a new letter can join the chain when the family grows. Our Initial Letter Charm Necklace is £166 in plain 14K gold on a 16-inch chain, and further letters are sold as pendant-only charms from £108.
One stone for each child
A birthstone bracelet is the most personal of the four, because it is built entirely from dates she already holds by heart. Each stone stands for one person, and the order you set them in tells a story of its own: eldest to youngest, left to right.
The Family Birthstone Bracelet holds up to five natural gemstones, each 2mm across in a minimal bezel, on a 1mm chain of solid 18K gold. It is £265 with one stone and rises by £20 for each stone added, to £345 for five. You choose the stones at checkout, in yellow, rose or white gold.
It is small, like a line of colour at the wrist rather than a statement, and that is the point. It stacks with a watch, sits under a cuff, and can stay on through the washing-up and the school run.
Getting colour and size right
Look at her wedding ring first
The ring she wears every day tells you which gold to choose. Yellow gold beside a yellow gold band looks as though it has always been there. If she wears white gold or platinum, choose white gold. Most pieces here come in yellow, rose and white gold; each product page shows the colours available.
Bracelet sizes
Our initial bracelets come in 15, 16 and 17cm. To check, borrow a bracelet she already wears and measure it flat, end to end. The birthstone bracelet is 15cm with a 2.5cm extension, so it adjusts to most wrists without guessing.
Necklace lengths
Our pendants come on 16, 18 or 20-inch chains. A 16-inch chain sits at the collarbone; 18 inches falls just below it and suits most people; 20 inches clears a jumper neckline. If she tends to wear high collars in winter, 18 inches is the safer gift.
From the children, or for a first Christmas
A gift for mum is often given by more than one person. Grown-up children can go in together on a piece none of them would buy alone: three siblings, three stones, one bracelet. For a mum whose children are still small, a partner can choose on their behalf and let the youngest hand it over.
A first Christmas as a mum deserves its own piece. One initial or one birthstone, small enough for the new routine, is the start of something that can grow. In five years, the bracelet has two stones. In ten, perhaps three. Each is a year she will remember.
For a mum who wants no letters or dates at all, the Trio Diamond Necklace carries meaning without spelling it out. Three stones stand for past, present and future, and many families read them as one stone per child instead. We explain that tradition in our guide to three-diamond necklaces.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a good Christmas jewellery gift for mum?
A piece that carries her family: an initial bracelet with her children's letters, a birthstone bracelet with one stone for each child, or a name necklace. Choose solid gold in the colour of the rings she already wears.
How much should I spend on jewellery for my mum?
There is no right figure. In solid gold, under £150 buys initial studs or an initial bracelet; £150 to £300 buys a name necklace, an engraved bracelet or a birthstone bracelet with one or two stones; above £300 buys more stones or a diamond pendant.
Can I put all my children's initials on one piece?
Yes. Start with the Initial Letter Charm Necklace, which comes with one letter on its chain, and add further letters as pendant-only charms. For a bracelet, you can also wear one Pavé Initial Bracelet per child as a stack.
How many birthstones can go on one bracelet?
The Family Birthstone Bracelet holds one to five natural gemstones on a solid 18K gold chain. It costs £265 with one stone and £20 more for each additional stone.
When should I order personalised jewellery for Christmas?
Personalised pieces take 7 to 9 working days to make and 5 to 7 working days to deliver in the UK, and December can be slower. Ordering in November gives a comfortable margin.
Is solid gold better than gold vermeil for a gift?
For a piece she will wear every day, yes. Solid gold has no plating to wear away and does not tarnish, so it can be worn in the shower and at the sink. Vermeil and plated pieces look similar when new, but the gold layer wears with daily use.
Can she return a personalised gift?
No. Personalised and made-to-order pieces, including initial, birthstone and engraved jewellery, cannot be returned. Most other pieces can be returned unworn within 30 days of delivery; contact us before sending anything back.
