The Christmas Edit
The smallest box in the stocking is usually the one she keeps.
The best solid gold stocking fillers for her are small pieces she can wear every day: a single initial stud, a pair of clover or flower studs, a pendant to slip onto a chain she already owns, or a fine gold chain. In solid 14K and 18K gold they start at £49, with several choices under £100 and more under £150, and every one is small enough to tuck into a stocking.
That is the short answer. Below is a two-tap finder, what each budget buys in real gold, why solid gold is worth choosing over plated, and when to order so the stocking is ready on Christmas Eve.

See the pieceSolid gold under £100
Many jewellery stocking fillers at this price are silver or gold-plated. Solid gold is possible under £100 for one simple reason: the piece is small. These are the four ideas we would start with, all in 14K gold.
1. Her initial, from £49
The Initial Letter Stud is a flat gold letter, about 4mm by 5mm, with no stones: the gold does the work. It is sold singly, so one letter is £49 and a pair is £98.
2. A clover for luck
The Moissanite Four Clover Studs are set with moissanite across the four leaves of a clover, so each stud catches light from every side. A quiet wish for the year ahead, £86 a pair.
3. A flower that stays in bloom
The Crystal Sunflower Studs follow the real flower: a cubic zirconia in each petal and one at the centre, so the sparkle spreads outward the way a sunflower does. £85 a pair in 14K gold.
4. A pendant for the chain she already wears
If she has a fine gold chain she never takes off, give her something new to hang from it. The Pavé Initial Pendant is her letter covered edge to edge with small stones, £80 as a pendant. The Pearl Pendant sets mother of pearl in 14K gold, for a soft glow rather than a sparkle, £83 as a pendant.
What £100 to £150 buys
A little more opens up movement, chains and the first pieces in 18K gold.
Earrings with movement
The Crystal Drop Chain Earrings hang a single stone from a fine 14K gold chain, so it sways and catches the light as she turns her head. £105 a pair.
A chain that shimmers on its own
The Dainty Sparkle O Link Chain is 18K gold with diamond-cut links that glint along their whole length, like light on a frosted branch. In its finest width it starts at £121 in rose or white gold and £135 in yellow, on a 16-inch chain.
Huggies she will not take out
The Minimal Huggie Hoops are plain 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. The 6mm pair, the smallest size, is £144. Our hoop earring size guide shows every size drawn to scale.
Something for the wrist
The Snake Chain Bracelet is a flat, fluid chain that lies against the wrist like water. In 14K gold it is £139 in the 15cm length.

Why solid gold, not plated
Gold-plated is a thin layer of gold over a base metal such as brass. Gold vermeil is a thicker layer of gold over sterling silver. Solid gold is a gold alloy all the way through. All three look alike when the box is opened. The difference appears with wear: a layer of gold can thin over time, while solid gold has no layer to wear through.
That matters most for the pieces that go in a stocking. Studs, huggies and fine chains are worn all day and often slept in.
How solid gold fits a small budget
The price of a gold piece largely follows its weight. A stud a few millimetres across holds very little gold, so it can be solid gold and still sit under £100. You are choosing a smaller piece, not a lesser material.
14K or 18K?
14K gold is 58.5% pure gold and is stamped 585. 18K gold is 75% pure gold and is stamped 750. 14K is a little harder; 18K is richer and warmer in colour. Every piece in this guide under £100 is 14K; the first 18K pieces appear from £121.
One rule for stockings. Choose something she can put on at the breakfast table and forget she is wearing. If it needs an occasion, it belongs under the tree instead.
Pendants, backs and sizes
Three small details are worth knowing before you order.
Pendant only, or on a chain?
The lowest prices for our pendants are for the pendant alone. That is ideal if she already wears a fine chain; the table above gives the widths each pendant fits. If she has no chain, the same pendants come on a 16-inch 14K gold chain: £167 for the Pavé Initial and £169 for the Pearl.
Rubber backs or gold backs
Our studs come with a rubber back at the price shown, or a solid gold back for a little more. The Initial Letter Stud is £62 with a gold back, the Sunflower Studs are £93 and the Clover Studs £101. A gold back makes the whole earring solid gold.
The few sizes that matter
Studs need no size at all. For a chain, 16 inches sits close at the collarbone and 18 inches falls just below it. Bracelets are the one place where the price moves with the size: the Snake Chain Bracelet is £139 in 15cm and £150 in 16cm, so measure a bracelet she already wears before you choose.
The last thing out of the stocking
A stocking is opened before anything else. Before breakfast, before the tree, often before it is properly light. It is the part of Christmas that has changed least since childhood: a clementine in the toe, something sweet, something silly, and one thing that was chosen with care.
That one thing is the reason a small box works so well here. Put it at the very bottom, under the clementine, so it is the last thing her hand finds. No audience, only a small box opened in a dressing gown.
For a daughter, an initial stud can be her first piece of real gold, the one she will still have when she is filling stockings herself. For a mum who has filled everyone else's for thirty years and rarely has one of her own, a pendant for the chain she already wears says that someone noticed. For a partner, a clover is a wish for the year you are about to share.
Not the biggest present of the day. The one found last, and worn first.
If the stocking is only the beginning, our guide to Christmas jewellery gifts for her covers the main present at every budget, and our personalised gifts bring together the initial pieces in one place.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are good solid gold stocking fillers for her?
Small pieces she can wear every day: a single initial stud, a pair of clover or flower studs, a pendant for a chain she already owns, a fine gold chain or a pair of huggie hoops. In solid 14K and 18K gold they start at £49 and stay under £150.
Can you buy solid gold jewellery for under £100?
Yes, if the piece is small. In 14K solid gold, an Initial Letter Stud is £49, a Pavé Initial Pendant is £80, a Pearl Pendant is £83, and Sunflower or Four Clover Studs are £85 and £86 a pair.
Is solid gold better than gold-plated for a stocking filler?
For pieces worn every day, yes. Gold-plated and vermeil jewellery have a layer of gold over another metal, and that layer can thin with wear. Solid gold is the same alloy all the way through, so there is no layer to wear through.
What is the difference between 14K and 18K gold?
14K gold is 58.5% pure gold, stamped 585, and is slightly harder. 18K gold is 75% pure gold, stamped 750, and has a richer, warmer colour. Both are solid gold and both suit daily wear.
When should I order stocking fillers for Christmas?
Ready pieces are dispatched in 3 to 5 working days and personalised pieces, including initials, are made in 7 to 9 working days, followed by 5 to 7 working days for UK delivery. Order initial pieces in November and everything else by early December.
Can a stocking filler be returned or exchanged?
Many cannot: earrings, personalised pieces such as initials, and sale items are not returnable. Other pieces can be returned within 30 days of delivery if unworn and in their original packaging. Check the details before you order, and contact us before sending anything back.
Small enough for a stocking. Solid gold, in a ribboned box, ready for Christmas morning.
